Bourbon Cake

Ingredients

    Cake: 

    5 lb (full carton) Krusteaz Professional® All Purpose Creme Cake Mix 734-1000

    40 fl oz (5 cups) water, divided

    23 fl oz (3 cups) vegetable oil

    Glaze:

    16 oz (2 cups) butter

    16 oz (2 cups) sugar

    4 oz (1/2 cup) bourbon

Method

    1. Place 24 fl oz (3 cups) water and Krusteaz Professional All Purpose Creme Cake Mix into a mixer bowl.
    2. Using a paddle, mix on low speed until combined. Scrape paddle.
    3. Continue to mix on low speed 3 minutes while slowly adding oil and balance of water.
    4. Scale batter into prepared 24 x 16 x 1-inch pan with full size pan extensions.
    5. For convection oven, bake at 350°F 25-30 minutes; for standard oven, bake at 400°F 30-35 minutes.
    6. For glaze, melt butter and add sugar, stirring constantly. When combined remove from heat and add bourbon. Place back on heat and stir until alcohol evaporates.
    7. Pour bourbon mixture over warm cake. The mixture will be absorbed when the cake is completely cooled.
